Food Pantry: We are open on Monday mornings at the building behind the Church one block down Post Oak Road. Over 100 families per month visit the pantry, and receive canned goods, meats, breads, pastries, potatoes, eggs and frozen fruits. The food comes primarily from the Austin Capital Area Food Bank. We pay a reduced fee to the Food Bank to acquire the food and help cover their overhead costs. We also receive food donations from our parishioners through food drives. Please arrive between 9:30 AM and 11 AM on Monday morning if you wish to receive food.
Home Visits: We make personal home visits on Monday-Friday between 2-8 pm. Call 512-858-5667 EXT 209, leave a message on the SVDP voice mail and a volunteer will call you back to make arrangements if you are eligible for a visit. We offer financial assistance with rent or utilities. Our volunteers will visit your home and can offer referral to other community resources. You are eligible if you have not been visited in the last 6 months, and live in the parish boundaries (the Northern half of Hays County).
Special Projects: In August, SVDP is distributing backpacks to more than 90 school-age children in our area. In September, we are participating in the Friends of the Poor Walk, a fundraiser held in Manor, TX. For Christmas, we will select several families to receive gifts for their children.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve.
