Altar servers participate in the parish community as ministers of the altar, assisting the presider in the celebration of the sacred liturgy. Through the sharing of talent, and through the graceful and reverent way they carry out their tasks, the altar servers contribute to the spirit of prayer and worship in the liturgy.
Saint John Berchmans, Patron Saint of Altar Servers, please pray for us!
We will be holding Altar Server Training, on Saturday, August 24, in the Church at 9:00 am. This training if for anyone, wishing to be an Altar Server and who has made their first Communion. The training will also be for anyone who already is an Altar Server, and might need a refresher, you are welcome to attend as well.
The Patron Saint of Altar Servers is Saint John Berchmans. St John was a Seminarian and had a very deep devotion and Love of God. He said " If I don't become a saint when I am young, I shall never become one." And, "To merit the protection of Mary, the smallest act of veneration would be enough, provovided that it is performed with constancy."
We should reflect on the role of Altar Servers in the Church and how they assist in the Liturgy, and how they can be an inspiration for us to serve God reverently, in whatever role we are given.
We should all strive to be like St. John Berchmans!
